About your body (1)

Your body can be seen as an expression of the original idea of your personality that you can be separated (see also the column about the origin of your personality). Now that you can perceive that you are a body, this in itself separates you from others. This is a piece of cake for you: you are separate, case closed.

A golden concept when you put it like that. But let's make an attempt to question it a bit. Since you can say that you perceive a separated body, how do you perceive it? With your senses. With your eyes you perceive yourself and other bodies. With your ears you hear the voices of other people. And with your fingertips you can feel someone else. This is still no convincing proof that you are separate, it only shows you how ingenious the concept is: you perceive something and the means to which you limit yourself to perceive it, confirm this idea.

As soon as the issue is about "knowing things", like feeling, knowing that the other person is on its way etcetera, your personality starts to be suspicious. This is only logical, because these are things that definitely are not of the body, thus questioning the picture of separation that your personality has woven so carefully over the years. As these are things that you simply cannot know when you imply that you are separate. You can only explain that, when there is something else than isolated bodies. Something that connects people on a different level of being, through which this kind of information can be exchanged. This interconnectedness is an aspect of your inner Self.

Your personality likes to label this kind of reasoning as untrustworthy, not scientific, vague etc. This is normal, because his nature is to protect his own interests and these ideas are not really supportive to his worldview. And the results of his success to block this from your awareness vary. Especially intense situations like death, accidents etcetera tend to have the power to overcome the protective filter of your personality.

It is not a goal in itself to be open to signals from others, or starting to feel one with others. This will be a natural side effect from the process in which you increase the energy you put in maintaining your personality and increase the mental space available for remembering your inner Self.

In about your body 2 you may read more about the way your personality uses your body, e.g. through physical symptoms.
