Balance or starting point?
Your personality has dedicated himself all your life to being the one in charge of the control of your attention, you may have found out by now. You are likely to experience your inner Self in those moments where you do not "think", or do not react according to the interpretations of your personality of a certain situation. Normally you are likely to have some of these moments during the day, and this may help you to feel reasonably comfortable,
because these moments can compensate for a lot of other experiences. You might call that balance, whether you are aware of your personality or not.
But when your personality gets the hang of it and really takes over control, then you are likely to find yourself in the "thinking mode" from the moment you open your eyes, only to find yourself still doing that when you finally fall asleep. And when the time in between is filled with this frantic mental activity, you are likely to experience tension. Because now you no longer have these natural moments with your Self, in which you can reclaim
your strength and still feel good.
This is likely to occur e.g. when you are facing huge problems, like with your health or the loss of a loved one, or when the amount of situations that no longer work for your personality increases:you will keep on thinking all day about this issue. And your "imbalance" is likely to increase. Now imbalance is a natural moment to take a closer look at what this seemingly balance is made of, and to start exploring the other
side of it as well.
The BE company calls balance a good starting point to increase remembrance of your Self, provided that your ultimate goal is to remember how to be your Self more often. Then you can increase that feeling, which you will like very much. Because your inner Self is a totally different experience than all the feelings that your personality calls forth, and when you get the hang of it, it is very likely that you now only want more of that. But a lot
of people settle for balance, which can of course be a great place to be for a while when you come from a place of huge problems. Your personality will be grateful for that decision also, because now he knows for sure that you will continue believing and investing in him. It would be a pity though to stop here, because the feelings that you experience here incidentally, are only a glimpse of the intense experience that your Self can offer you the more you are allowing yourself to let it come into
your awareness.
The Self that you experience during the brief moments in which you open up to it, is not very noticeable, your experience of it is not likely to vary spectacularly from your normal experiences. But the more you allow your inner Self to manifest itself into your awareness, the stronger this feeling will become. And the more attractive the whole process will become in which you stop focusing on the thought patterns of your personality and simply
let go, which in itself is not a very pleasant experience by nature.
Do allow yourself to get used to remembering the feeling of being your Self. Because this is about peace and quiet within you, and that is a huge contrast compared to the activities of your personality, who at least does not fancy this choice of yours and will try to distract you quickly. How often have you been thinking frantically during what should have been a relaxing walk on the beach? Or are you making up a whole conversation in your head
in order to defend yourself against seemingly attacks that you yourself made up in the first place while sitting in your lazy chair? Allow yourself to get used to your inner Self at a convenient pace, which usually is only a few seconds at a time without forcing yourself into it, your intention itself is enough.
