About your career
Having a career usually means that you "get further" in life somehow. Generally speaking this usually means: more money for the work you do, higher in hierarchical systems of "something".
Career making is a very common personality goal which is already reinforced in early stages of your life. The picture is made very attractive, and this should come as no surprise to you, since it contains two aspects that are highly appreciated by your personality because they enable him to strengthen his self-image: he is appreciated, this is recognized by people "who matter", and
he is "good", even better than others. This package deal is labeled "success".
Your personality uses your work as an important tool to create and reinforce his image of you and to strive for his own goals:
- dealing with time
- making more money to meet increasing personality demands
- status
- having more influence over others than others over you
- control, activity, planning
- knowledge, being better, growth
and you may want to add a few more yourself.
Usually a career move implies going to a new company or another department, through which it not only offers an easy escape on the judgments so often repeated by your personality on your present organization and/or people, it even holds out the promise that in this new situation "everything is going to be really different".
Moving up the ladder usually implies that you spend more time on office hours (physically and mentally through the focus of your attention) at the expense of your private life, which may have the convenient side-effect that you do not have to really face some of the unpleasant things that are going on there (things your personality cannot make work for you, or does not like for example).
The question is not so much whether the alternative of making a career is not making a career, the real question is what is it that you do with the experiences in your life. Do you use them for remembrance and increasing Awareness, or do you keep on using them to reinforce the worldview of your personality. Be not be mislead here, not making a career can be as good a personality goal
as well as pursuing one, if only for the reason that your personality cannot create a satisfactorily career in your life. Be not distracted by all the reasons and justifications your personality can come up with in order to "explain" why the situation is the way it is. And be vigilant to personality ideas that "want to help", which ever so often is only a disguise to be in a situation in which your personality can feel better than others, more in charge (a simple test here: what is the true reaction
of your personality when someone does not accept your help).
Whatever you are doing at this very moment is perfect for you now, and each interpretation you give to this is a personality tool. You will know when it is time for something new. And once you open up to the idea that the next step need not be "better" or "more" since these are only personality tools, when it contributes to your process of making more mental space available for your
inner Self you have taken up the first steps on your new career: remembering your inner Self.
