What is it that you are really going to do?

Sometimes things are so stunningly simple that you find you do not even question them in the first place. For example, you say: we are going to walk the dog. Then your personality may use this sentence to focus your awareness on the process of walking the dog and every aspect in it. Same principle applies for example when you are making an appointment with someone to go shopping. Or walk through the garden. The question itself automatically implies that "perceiving" or "doing" or likewise is the main goal of this action. No wonder that your attention is focused on those aspects and that your inner Self is overlooked, since you do not invite this aspect into the experience at all.

Then what is the alternative? As you may know already, you will not find that in "doing nothing", you find it through a switch in the intention with which you enter the situation. Tell yourself before you even start with any of these activities that you do not know what it réally means to walk the dog, go shopping or walk through the garden. However, you know one thing for sure: the action itself is not very interesting, and profoundly holds out opportunities to strengthen personality issues. Then tell yourself that you want to choose to experience this situation through your inner Self, and experience what it is like to walk the dog, go shopping or walk through the garden, seen from the perspective of your inner Self. Then let it all go, simply enter the situation, do whatever it is that you feel you have to to, and let yourself be inspired.

You may of course act out the well-known choice to perceive the situation through the eyes of your personality at first (and be not surprised to find this remains your favourite choice for quite some time, since your personality is still strong enough to promote it), then find out that you do not like this, and thén choose to ask your inner Self to come up with the alternative. However, the times that you are able to make this last choice from the beginning, simply saves you time.
