Afraid to let go - your Self as an  enemy

Despite the fear of your personality to lose his grip on a situation and 'thus' on your life and 'thus' on himself as far as he is concerned (and then not being able to avoid unpleasant experiences, a thing he highly values as a desired outcome of its activities), there is an even deeper fear in relation to becoming Aware, one you are not likely to find easily. Since your personality not only perceives himself as weakened, he also expects - according to his own principles - revenge, being overwhelmed, punishment or revenge by 'the thing which replaces him' - in this case: your Self. This he would have done himself when somebody else would have set him aside so obviously. And since this guaranteed unpleasant outlook is not 'nice', you better not start with this whole process in the first place. On top of that, all these things together are great stuff to be able to now label your inner Self as 'enemy', since it cannot be reasonably asked of you to open up and let go in favour of something that is so obviously attacking your basics.

Only, it is not true. Revenge, wretch and such are no characteristics of your Self. Your Self is about unconditional Acceptance, even of your personality. There is no fight for power, other than the illusionary fight your personality believes he has to enter into by cleverly labeling your Self as danger and thus attempting to avoid that you take a closer look at it. It is a defence against something that has not attacked you to begin with. Your Self knóws that it is the Truth about you and your personality only a 'game' you are playing with a part of your mental capacity, and gently waits until you are done with it.

Recognizing this is what is going on and what the Truth is about your Self and your personality, especially by practicing this through everyday situations, will help you to let go of your investment in it.
