Highly sensitive

When your personality reacts more extreme to all kinds of things you perceive, more than the average personality, it has become common practice to label this with a name. Highly sensitive is such a label.

And yet, a more extreme reaction is nothing more than any other personality reaction: a step which follows an interpretation of a situation which in itself is neutral, and a certain choice to deal with it. In this case, your personality has a tendency to include many details of situations into his judgements and of course has extra work to do because of this, and experiences unpleasant results sooner. The consequences he experiences and the solutions he chooses are not different from the ones normal personalities choose, only more, more often, extremer: withdrawing, attempting to control, being alert to recognize issues in an early stage and attempt to limit the consequences, etc.

In itself, it does not matter which reaction patterns your personality chooses and which intensity suits you, a personality reacts always. And each personality has a range within which this goes reasonably quiet, and other parts where things are more extreme, each personality has to deal with this practically, this too is normal. So your goal is not so much as to get rid of high sensitivity, since this is the way your personality has taught himself to feel safe. But neither to use it to make your personality special.

When your personality reacts highly sensitive, you have the choice, just like everybody else, to become aware of your personality and let go if your investment in your personality himself more and more. This will certainly make a difference in your experiences because you then make place to experience your inner Self instead of your personality, as described here on the site. You can even turn your sensitivity into an advantage, since it makes you extra sensitive to noticing each time your personality is active.
