Is it important to ....?

A convenient way to help you become more aware of your priorities, is to ask yourself the question: when I want to experience my inner Self more, is it important to .... Some practical examples:

When I want to experience my inner Self more, is important then that I have a good hair day?
When I ... is it important that X likes me?
Wehn I ... is it important that I get that salary raise?
When I ... that my house is cleaned?
When I ... that it is nice weather?
When I ... that we are going to the movie that I like?

Actually you immediately notice that when you put the question like this, you hardly have to search for an answer, since it is very obvious. And yet, you never dó ask yourself this question, otherwise you could not focus so intensely on your looks, being liked by others, etc. Now what is it that becomes clear very easy when you ask yourself questions like this? That you already knew yourself that experiencing your inner Self does not depend on these things.

For good orders' sake: the alternative is not that your hair is a mess, X believes you are weird, you never get a raise nor that your house is a mess. However, this may help you to realize that your focus on those subjects in itself does not bring you any closer to experiencing your inner Self. And so the most practical thing to do is to ask your inner Self for inspiration with regard to these issues.
