Sleeplessness

If you are unable to fall asleep, a very common cause is that there are still many thoughts that ask for your attention, and you keep entertaining them. Obviously "something" within you considers dealing with these thoughts to be more important than sleep, even though you are likely to dislike it at the moment itself.

When you take a closer look at the thoughts that come to mind, you are likely to find that you are reliving all kinds of things, especially from the past day, or that you are anticipating things to come. And one of the important reasons why you are doing this, is because you were not able to deal with these thoughts earlier that day, which can be caused by: you did not make time to do so, it was so much that you simply did not have enough time, or you considered facing it very unpleasant and tried to hide it.

Why is it even necessary to relive thoughts? Your personality believes that it is his task to create a pleasant and safe world for you. So he judges every situation in which you find yourself. Now when things happen during the day that cannot instantly be labeled as  nice, it is likely that these events will have to be mentally relived again and again until you find a way through which you can somehow live with this. That is also why you are likely to find yourself discussing it with others, who preferably join you in your point of view.

You may suspect that the more complicated and extensive your rules for safety are, the more time your personality will need to deal with all kinds of situations, past or future, in order to be able to label them "safe" or "pleasant". Sometimes, but these occasions are usually rare, you are so enthusiastic about something, or something happened that was so pleasant for your personality, that your thoughts kept on twirling in your mind because of all the possibilities you now saw and the star role your personality sees for himself.

So either over the years your personality makes it more and more difficult for you, by increasing the number of safety rules, or new things happen, or too much happens in your life to be able to deal with it all in a way that results in a picture of "nice". That is why, when you live through a stressful period, you are likely to face some form of insomnia: your world is no longer safe enough, so your personality will become very active to diminish possible damage and try to live up to your original standards as much as possible. Now that this will cost you a good night's sleep and other things is less interesting to your personality than restoring this basic feeling of safety.

However, it is a dead-end street to deal with this according to the rules of your personality. Because he only sees possibilities when other people change, or by withdrawing as much as possible from all kinds of situations until he can safely reestablish his own way of looking at the world again, which could be supported by medication and other kinds of things that limit your awareness. What you could do instead? Claim responsibility for yourself. And start working on the basics, which means start looking for your inner Self and become aware of the thought system of your personality and stop believing it to be a truth in itself.
