Looking
Your personality uses perception through your eyes to get input in order to maintain itself. Your eyes are very suited for this purpose, since they fully support the process of focusing: there is a general picture available, however you have to focus on parts of it in order to direct your attention. Your personality 'scans' the picture that he gets, focuses on all kinds of different
parts of it, immediately starts to label these and use it to create an experience. He has become very good in this, and these days he can even perform it at very high speed with a great variety on input, thus almost creating an illusion of continuity.
And yet, what you are really looking for, cannot be obtained through looking at a situation like that. Your inner Self cannot "see". You cannot "see" the inner Self of someone else. Does this mean that looking is superfluous? Just like all the other attributes you use, it is simply a question of what do you use it for: do you use whatever your eyes rest on, to strengthen your personality,
or do you want to use it to become aware of the fact that in itself it cannot bring you what you are really looking for, thus using it to regain remembrance of your inner Self.
Then one day you will learn how to look without using the input to create experiences. An example: the other day I drove home in my car, and had to make a side move in order to avoid some bicycles. I would not even have particularly noticed this, were it not for what happened next: the car behind me had to perform the same maneuver, however did this while beeping the horn and with great
movement. Then I took a closer look, and noticed there were four bicycles driving side by side. Now what I did was: overtaking and avoiding what came on my way (bicycles) and move on. What the person in the car behind me did, was: interpreting what it was that made him force to make this move, then judge this against his standards (maximum 2 bicycles side by side allowed), express his irritation about this error against his standard (blowing the horn), forcing him to a different reaction than he
would have expected, then trying to correct what he believes is wrong (dangerously close return after overhauling). Now the person in the car behind me and I have perceived the same, only the other person has used it to create an experience through which his personality probably has increased in strength, while for me it did not stand out particularly, thus enabling me to stay close to the awareness of my inner Self.
And by the way: you will not miss the experiences created by your personality at all, would you rather have an experience like the one described above, or rest in very lofty inner Peace?!
