Need for time

You create a need for time yourself, i.e. your personality does this, since his existence depends on activity, whether physical, passively noticing things or simply through thinking. It is only on the basis of this input that he can exist at all. So seen from his perspective there is a tremendous demand for time, in order to be able to "do" as much as possible, thus reestablishing itself to the maximum. Your personality aims at a continuous amount of experiences that he can direct, control, think over etc.

Your inner Self, on the other hand, can deal with activity as well as with non-activity. It can use activity for actively practicing remembrance that you do not want to use this to strengthen your personality any more. Non-activity can be used to Be, which is Its essence. When you do not need to do anything, you do not need time, thus taking away any ground for time being interesting in itself.

So it is your personality that needs time at all. You can learn to let go of the need for time, which will help you to gently diminish the sources for your personality. By practicing this you actually imply: I do not need to create activity anymore in order to keep my personality having his way. The things that happen on a given day I will use to remember my inner Self and strengthen this.

Since this is new to you, your personality is likely to start opposing this idea almost immediately, so allow yourself to start with small steps. You may remind yourself every now and then: for the next five seconds I do not have any need for time. Later on, when this becomes more natural for you, you can increase the amount of time you choose for this practice period. What will happen when you do this? Maybe nothing at all, maybe you simply continue what you were doing or will you be doing something else, that is not interesting in itself. You have told yourself to let go of the need for time for a brief moment, which in itself is an excellent way to start making more mental space available for your inner Self.

You will notice that your personality and your inner Self are literally opposing here. However, that is what they always do, they simply cannot be reconciled. You always strengthen either the one or the other, there is no other choice. Your personality cannot deal with silence, absence of activity and control, since this means he has no grip on the given situation to even maintain himself. His essence is activity. So you are likely to experience feelings of discomfort, which may even tend to panic, when you have nothing to do or do not experience any input. Learn to see this for what it really is: a reaction, not a truth in itself. Your inner Self can handle silence as well as absence of activity and action in your life, and he can use everything for increasing Awareness and/or Being. So you know where to turn to!
