Why do you tell so often to not change anything?

In many of the columns on this site you may read that it actually is not advised to start with changing things. Why is that so, since it is logical to want to get rid of an unpleasant situation? Indeed it is, and you are looking for a solution. Within the thought system of your personality this means that you use the situation and the interpretations of your personality as your starting point, and that you want to change the effécts from this process. So what you do in that way is eliminate part of the way the problem came about in the first place. Since the true sequence would be: perception - interpreting/judging - feeling - get rid of the feeling (or try to behold it). And for your solution you focus on the last part of this chain only.

For a truly sensible solution you start at the very beginning, which is: becoming aware of each of these individual steps involved: perception, the judgment that you have laid upon the situation, and the feeling that you have called forth within yourself based on it, and use this for your dealing with the situation. Together with letting go of your identification with the outcome of this process as being 'you'. Now it is quite difficult to work on this when you start changing all kinds of things in this situation, since then it becomes even harder to find out where to start in the first place. So let everything be the way it was as much as possible. True problem solving is not about changing the ingredients in order to have the outcome of the abovementioned process be acceptable again. It is about becoming aware of the fact thát you judge and interpret in the first place, and that you can simply stop doing so. In other columns on the site you may read more about how to use this for increasing Awareness.
