There is always one choice

No matter how hopeless, sad, depressing etc. a situation may seem, you always have a choice: to which part of yourself do you offer it to deal with it: your personality or your inner Self.

It is not much of a choice when it comes to the pleasantness of the feelings, because your inner Self is guaranteed to make you feel peaceful and quiet, regardless of the situation, circumstances and people involved. Then why does it seem to be such a hard choice to make and do you end up, despite your intention to offer it to your inner Self, in offering it to your personality?

Each time that the situation comes to mind, your personality will react first, that is simply the way it is. So he starts interpreting, labeling and judging and brings the results of that to mind. Now you will "know" why this is unpleasant, hopeless etc. With a bit of luck he is successful in this approach, and you will become so depressed that you no longer have the energy and inspiration to move on to your inner Self.

Your inner Self is the absence of your personality. And that indicates why your personality always comes first: he is an activity, and your inner Self is Being, and that is a part that will only come to mind when there is no activity that takes its place.

Whenever you surrender a situation to your inner Self, you will find that your personality will keep on trying to re-establish his way of dealing with it, and bring his labels to mind time and time again. And you will find yourself believing them every now and then, simply because you are used to do so for almost your whole life. That is why it is a matter of holding on and a lot of practice in making the choice for your inner Self over and over again. Whatever your personality may want you to believe, no matter how short the intervals between his thoughts. Just look at them and no longer believe that they are true, this will slowly but certainly influence the balance between your personality and your inner Self, thus making it easier for you to recognize the input of your personality for what it is: labels that he has tried to give a meaning, but that are meaningless in itself.
