Pitfalls on your way

You might think that you are doing well applying these new insights. You even have those moments in which you experience your inner Self in a more profound way. Your process is going well, and you become more and more aware. 

The biggest pitfall of all is: that your personality will use this process for his own strengthening. More subtle then before, and yet with the same goal. How will he do that?

He may use this process to see yourself as special, different from other people, not one with them
- what I have and experience they will not understand
- when other people say that they experience their inner Self they are wrong
- I rather  not talk about it, as people will not understand me
- shake your head while watching other people "make mistakes"
- labeling it as a weird process that cannot be communicated, and isolate yourself
- they are not working on these issues, so a contact is not worth while
- wanting to convince others that this is a thing to do also, as it is so valuable

It is also likely that your personality will use it to judge your activities, rather than the increasing awareness that they bring about:
- working hard on your progress. Attending seminars, reading a lot, practicing etc. Be a good girl/boy
- using change to measure your progress
- believing that things are not perfect and intending to change them
- assign a status to what you do in itself, like rituals, mediate, techniques
- discussing
- believing that you know it all
- labeling an event as a status quo, rather than a process
- consciously giving attention is unpleasant, so you do it the least amount possible. Reading, practicing etc.: suspicious!

Or your personality may use it to have your feelings get a status of their own, to judge the process you are in, exaggerate pleasant feelings and give them a status of their own
- use unpleasant feelings to convince yourself "that it will not work anyway" and you rather quit
- have you do as many normal things as possible in order to maintain its focus
- make you believe that once you start with this, you will never be able to do "normal" things again

Rest assured that the above lists are not complete! Now that is not a very attractive picture. But this is what personalities do, this is the pattern that he applies to everything in your life, only now you become aware of it. Be alert, especially when you are working with these ideas for a while already, before you know it you are back on the personality track again. Become aware, stay aware, and strengthening your inner Self are your real focus points.

Everything you do and experience can help you to increase your remembrance. Regardless of what the occasion is, what was said etc. In a gossip-like conversation you may become very aware of all kinds of judgments that your personality applies. Your relationship with your boss can give you access to all kinds of formerly hidden thought patterns. And a good laugh about a comedian who shows you the absurdity of the world of personalities is fine too. Remember, they are all steps along the way to remembrance, nothing more, but also nothing less. You are your Self already, you only got distracted.
