That feeling in your stomach

The feeling in your stomach which seems to give directions on how to act is, as is in the name, a feeling and as such it is a step in the standard personality process of perceiving > judging/interpreting > feeling > hold on to or get rid of feeling.

Feeling is the step which precedes the usually tremendous amount of work your personality puts into getting rid of and after that attempting to avoid unpleasant feelings, which in itself is largely a thinking process.

In this case you use your body to recognize a feeling, one which is likely to - without this kind of special attention - have remained unnoticed or been reasoned away through your rational processes.

That feeling in your stomach is easily confused with intuition. The experience seems a direct one, unrelated and coming from something different than 'you'. However, projecting something away onto your body and then quickly make you forget you did this, does not turn it into something 'magical' which for that reason you should listen to.
Inspiration through your inner Self is not located on a special place in your body, and it also is not a feeling but a form of Knowing. When you have some experience with this, the difference will become very clear soon.

Do not make reacting to the feeling in your stomach a goal in itself, but find out how it can serve you in your process of increasing Awareness: as a step along the way in recognizing the many ways your personality can take to create a feeling and then deal with it, and then letting go of your investment and beliefs in it.
