Success
When you change your source of inspiration from your personality to your inner Self, then your normal definition of success is no longer valid, as that implies that there is something that you can influence and control. When you choose to live through your inner Self, that implies automatically that there is no active control and influence over your situation. So what would the new definition be then?
Even though "success" in itself is a judgment, you can give it a new meaning when you start to work with these ideas. And you may need it too, probably, as your personality is likely to show you some pretty rough times should you decide to no longer choose him as the source of inspiration. That is not new in itself, you may be familiar with those patterns already: he acts them out every time your personality finds that his needs are not met, for
example. Only now you will experience these patterns more often, because you now consciously choose to no longer have him rule your life.
Your personality judges success by objectives like: sales, number of visitors, amount of e-mails, your opinion shared, being acknowledged and appreciated, a well-filled display, the finances all in order, a family, car, and whatever other checkpoints your personality may have adopted. And it is even nicer when other people acknowledge your success in order to really "enjoy" it.
You can see success in a different way, being the answer to the question: have I used this day, this situation, to learn more about my inner Self, by consciously choosing for it, or by facing the patterns of my personality that diverted my attention from it. When the answer is "yes", then it does not matter what it is that you did or did not do, what happened or did not happen, how you did or did not do it. Then the experience in itself was useful
(or if you wish: successful).
It does not matter what the focus of your attention was while learning the lesson. Whether it was a computer screen or a game with your children, an intense meeting with colleagues, while taking care of your plants, in front of a room full of listeners, during small talk in an elevator, while you were giving somebody a massage or whatever. It is not about what you did, it is about the intention with which you did it: personality or
inner Self.
Once you start making these choices in your everyday life, you are actually successful anytime. Even when you perceive yourself acting out the rage of your personality, you are so much more aware than you were before. As now you know that there is a choice to make, and you were not consciously aware of that before. It does not matter what choice you made in that moment itself, you will learn more about your personality and your inner
Self anyway.
