Travelling
This year I finally succeeded in travelling without the remains of my personality using it for his own purposes. What was the difference between this time and the last ones? The biggest difference was one in approach: rather than my personality assuming that he were to create something, I had an almost constant idea that it was all about remembering things. This was a huge difference, and it came with the lack of pressure of having to make something out of it anyway.
For example, normally when you enter a new environment, your personality is likely to scan it and start to label it, like "this is the same as with us", "that is different", "this I do not like, that I do like", "mmmm, funny story", "he does not do what I want him to", etc. That is not a way to experience an environment, it is a way to label it. And when your personality does this anyway but does not get any response to it, then he will no longer see any value
in travelling, and since he no longer knows what to do with it, he will no longer see it as a desired activity.
This time, new environments were no issue whatsoever. They did not mean anything to me, and that was fine, even to keep it that way. A happy recognition of the way it is when you really do not label anything you see! I could even listen to the explanation of people around me that told me all kinds of things about the picture I saw without feeling that I should "do" anything with it (which would mean: judgment, or a feeling of uselessness).
This made our trip to the other side of the world a real vacation: there was nothing or hardly anything that my personality could label "familiar", so you could see it as a vacation from the remains of my personality. This could also be experienced through the relaxed and neutral way in which I dealt with things like: lost luggage, a visa problem, dealing with website problems, problems with the oil level of the campervan with no village
for the next hundred kilometres. Etc.
