Words (language)
Language is a great tool of your personality. Words can be used to express your inner process, especially the one of your personality. To do this, you use words: sounds that we as a society have given a certain meaning, but to which you added your personal interpretation. Like the word "tree" may cause some very unpleasant feelings in you, for example when you have recently parked your car against one. Someone else may associate
it with quiet, or walnuts or ...
Personalities have a tendency to assume that when they tell a story, that the person who listens to him somehow gets the same picture as the person who tells it. Now read this piece of text with me: the butter is on the table. Besides that is a vase with flowers. There are delicious apples on the plate. Shall we make a bet? After three sentences and about twenty words, we each have a completely different picture in our heads,
only the "objective ingredients" are the same. As you do not know my virtual table, you do not know what my vases look like, what flowers I prefer to imagine there, which apples I am likely to have pictured there, and last but not least, whether this picture calls forth pleasant or unpleasant feelings in me.
The same happens with "technical" descriptions. When you say "exhaust system", you may think about the one in your kitchen. As I have worked with a company that built industrial exhaust systems, to me this calls forth images of cyclones, huge pipes and big fans. Let alone how difficult this whole process is going to be for abstract words like open-minded, diminished or agreeable.
It is rather surprising that language is associated with a lot of objective characteristics, and yet, it is about the only thing that your personality has in order to communicate with some form of content. A lot of extra work has to be done in order to make sure that you are likely to have a picture in mind that is workable. Your personality has a lot of situations in which he applies language and words for his own good: not
only to express his worldview, for which he uses the associations described before. But also in ways as to correct people in their use of language, either spoken or in writing; a mental distance can be created because of the accent only. Stating that because you do not know the exact meaning of a word, that you cannot go on, thus shutting yourself off of the other person involved. Using complex language, etc.
Your inner Self does not communicate through words, although he can use them to focus your attention on your process of awareness. Seen from the perspective of your inner Self, words are a limitation on an experience that is more intense and different from that of using and interpreting language. Your inner Self is about Being, and that in itself is speechless. Being is not about isolated personalities in bodies,
but rather a more universal state of mind. Being is a situation where tensions are absent, and that in itself has no need to express itself through words.
