Working hard
Working is an activity that usually goes on for at least eight hours per day in a business environment, and then there are some chores to do at home. So you have a tremendous amount of time each day with a structure in it, which usually is a great playground for your personality.
What are some nice aspects for your personality about working:
- recognition, reward, being valued
- having to think a lot, so there is not much mental space left for other issues
- guaranteed things to do for at least x hours each day
- guaranteed contacts with other people
- being in control, setting priorities, etc.
- feeling good about yourself
- important aspect for your self esteem (job title, importance, development etc.)
You may also come up with some unpleasant aspects, like:
- you "have to", even if you do not feel like
- annoying people, chores, things that do not work out the way you intended
- balance of power in which you play a subordinate part
- being assigned too much things to do
The more your personality can use it for a pleasant outcome, the more he is prepared to work hard, since it is an important source of pleasant experiences like this. It may also be used the other way around: working long hours and hard in order to meet the expectations of others and prevent them from judging you with an unpleasant outcome ("but
I worked so hard, I could not have done any more") etc. It can also be used to avoid introspection and unpleasant situations in your private life (problems, loneliness etc.).
But work can also be a great source of possibilities to practice to become aware of the role of your personality, as he spends a great deal of time on it each day. And you can use the positive as well as the negative experiences to do so, teach yourself from the beginning that there is no real difference between positive and negative, they are two aspects
of the same principle: judging and interpreting.
